Senate Majority Policy Committee to hold Hearing on the Health Care Marketplace and Community Health Systems

Wednesday, Aug. 1 at Westmoreland County Community College

Harrisburg – The Senate Majority Policy Committee, chaired by Sen. Ted Erickson (R-26), will hold a public hearing August 1 on the impact of changes in the health care marketplace on community health systems.

The purpose of the hearing is to hear more about how the UPMC-Highmark issue in the Pittsburgh region is impacting the delivery of health care services in the surrounding counties – specifically, the impact on small community hospitals.

The hearing will be hosted by Sen. Kim Ward (R-39) and held Wednesday, August 1 at 11 a.m. at Westmoreland County Community College, 145 Pavilion Lane, Youngwood, PA.

Testifiers will include representatives of Highmark, UPMC, Excela Hospital System, and the Western PA Hospital Council.
